Four star point guard, No. 1 player in Mississippi Josh Hubbard commits to Kermit Davis and the Rebels

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss men’s basketball received a huge commitment Thursday as four star point guard Josh Hubbard, the No. 1 player in Mississippi, announced his pledge to the Rebels.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Hubbard chose Kermit Davis and Ole Miss over offers from USC, Xavier, Seton Hall, Mississippi State and Houston which were in his top six schools. He also received offers from LSU, Southern Miss and Georgetown, among others.

Hubbard, who was offered by Ole Miss in June, 2021, is from Madison, Mississippi, and attends Madison-Ridgeland Academy where he has dominated on the court.

He was a 2022 All-State first-team selection, averaging 26 points, six rebounds, and six assists per game as he helped lead MRA to the MAIS Overall Championship.

He is the fourth commit for the Rebels in the 2023 class, joining Jacob Gazzo, Rashaud Marshall, and Jordan Burks. Before Hubbard’s commitment, the class was ranked No. 27 in the country, and that number will definitely go higher after Hubbard’s addition to the class.
