Hunter Elliott named to Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American Team

OXFORD, Miss. — The accolades continue to roll in for Ole Miss pitcher Hunter Elliott as he has been named to Collegiate Baseball’s Freshman All-American Team.

This latest recognition comes a week after the Tupelo native was invited to play for the USA Collegiate National Team. He also earned a spot on the All-SEC Freshman team.

Elliott was also named to the All-Regional Team this past weekend in Coral Gables after tossing five complete innings, allowing only three hits and one earned run while striking out eight in his start against the Miami Hurricanes. The Rebels won that game against the No. 1 seed, 2-1.

Thus far this season, the left-handed Elliott has struck out 82 batters with 30 walks in 17 appearances and 9 starts.

Next Up: Super Regional vs. USM

This weekend the Rebels will face Southern Miss in the Super Regionals and Elliott will toe the rubber in the second game of the best-of-three series in Hattiesburg.

He will be in a pivotal spot where he will either help solidify a win that will send the Rebels to Omaha or help get a win that moves Ole Miss to a winner-take-all game three. Elliott has shown the maturity and guts all season that many freshmen in the SEC just can’t, which is why he is continuing to be recognized for his stellar season.

Here’s what Hunter had to say Wednesday afternoon about the upcoming Super Regional:
