Ole Miss drops 71-69 heartbreaker to Aggies

Ole Miss dropped a 71-69 heartbreaker to Texas A&M in College Station Tuesday night. Breein Tyree’s valiant three-point attempt appeared as if it was going to be good—only to roll around the rim and fall out of the basket as time expired.

Texas A&M’s Tyler Davis led the Aggies (12-6, 1-5 SEC) with 20 points, while Bruce Stevens led Ole Miss (10-8, 3-3) with 20.

The score was tied at 69 when Tyler Davis grabbed his own offensive rebound for a cutback that gave the Aggies the 71-69 lead with 22.7 seconds to go. When the Rebels’ shot rolled out of the basket as the clock expired, the Aggies picked up their first league win of the season.

Though school was closed at A&M Tuesday due to inclement weather in College Station, a good-sized crowd of 10,578 in the 13,000-seat Reed Arena watched the game.

In addition to Stevens’ 20 for the Rebels, Terence Davis finished with 12 and Tyree notched 11. Deandre Burnett scored 7, Marcanvis Hymon added 6 and Devontae Shuler added 5. Markel Crawford scored 4, while Dominik Olejniczak and Justas Furmanavicius each added 2.
