Most Impactful Rebels for 2019: No. 26 Tariqious Tisdale

OXFORD, Miss. — As we count down the days until the Ole Miss season opener against Memphis in the Liberty Bowl, we are releasing who we think the Top 50 Most Impactful Players will be for the Rebels this season. This series is a way for Ole Miss fans to learn more about players to keep an eye on this fall.

With 26 days before kickoff, coming in at No. 26…

Tariqious Tisdale

Tariqious Tisdale was a three-star defensive end, according to ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports, out of Lexington, Tennessee when he initially signed with Ole Miss in the class of 2016. However, the 6-foot-5, 292-pound Tisdale first played for Northwest Mississippi Community College (NWMCC) before ultimately arriving in Oxford.

In 2017, as a freshman at NWMCC, Tisdale played in 11 games, starting in five of them, for a total of 31 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and five sacks. Following that season, he then signed again with Ole Miss and joined the team for the 2018 football season.

As a sophomore in his first season in Oxford, the JUCO transfer appeared in all 12 games with two starts on the defensive line to finish the season with 33 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.

Tisdale earned academic recognition last fall, making the 2018 Athletic Director’s Fall Honor Roll for excelling in the classroom during his sophomore season.

During the spring, Tisdale and Ryder Anderson competed heavily at weak-side defensive end in defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre’s 3-4 base defense. The talented Tisdale enters fall-camp as the starter along with Anderson.

After practice Monday, Tisdale commented on being more comfortable in the new scheme.

“Reading my keys, knowing what to do, the install from Day One to now, I know all the players now than I did better last season,” Tisdale said.

He likes the 3-4, noting: “It fits me and fits our bigger guys better, not having to play D-line but playing outside. That really helps. Having Qaadir (Sheppard) and Chuck (Wiley) play linebacker and having us bigger guys to the four-eyes (defensive end) and the big ones at nose.”

Tisdale and his teammates are looking forward to a new season.

“We have to continue to grow. We plan on putting on a show this year. It’s something we all have in our head that last year is not going to happen again. We all have the same mindset to go out and compete.“

Tariqious Tisdale

Tisdale has worked very had in the offseason to get his body in great shape for SEC play this fall, and we expect to see the junior lineman have a breakout year.

Watch out for No. 22 coming off the edge and getting pressure on the quarterback!
