Ole Miss Baseball Moves Back into D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss baseball is coming off a gritty series victory over No. 21 Florida and now moves to 22-11 overall and 5-7 in SEC play.

The Rebels secured the series on Saturday with a rubber-game victory over the Gators, 5-2, with all five runs coming in the ninth. This series win puts Ole Miss back inside D1Baseball’s Top 25 rankings for the third time this season where they sneak in at No. 25.

There are ten Southeastern Conference teams in this week’s rankings: 2) Texas; 4) Georgia; 8) Alabama; 9) Mississippi State; 15) Auburn; 16) Oklahoma; 18) A&M; 22) Arkansas; 24) LSU; and 25) Ole Miss

This sets the stage for an already intense weekend, but it is now one of the most important weekends of the Rebels’ season.

The LSU Tigers will be in Oxford this weekend, ranked at No. 24. Each club is looking to remain inside the top 25. Ole Miss has been ranked two other times this season, but their appearances were brief as they followed with series losses, forcing them to work back in for what is now the third time.

The Tigers entered the season ranked inside the top 5, but struggles early on forced them to fight their way back into the polls as well.

Game Info

Ole Miss and LSU are set for a three-game weekend clash, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm on Friday, 4:00 pm on Saturday, and 1:30 pm for the series finale on Sunday.

Next Up

Before the Tigers head into town, however, Ole Miss is ready for a midweek matchup against Alcorn State on Tuesday. First pitch at Swayze for the Rebels and Braves is set for 6:30 P.M. CT
