Wangoy arrives in Oxford as a high-upside developmental prospect with rare size and a unique background. The 6-foot-7, 333-pound lineman spent the past two seasons with the Florida Gators, redshirting during the 2024 season and focusing on physical and technical development. He did not appear in a game during his time in Gainesville.
Originally from Manchester, England, Wangoy’s path to college football has been anything but traditional. Before arriving in the United States, he grew up playing rugby, basketball, and soccer, only transitioning to American football in 2023 — less than a year before enrolling at Florida. That limited experience shaped expectations early, with Wangoy and the Florida staff understanding his first seasons would be about learning the game and developing fundamentals rather than immediate playing time.
Wangoy played his high school football at Zarephath Academy in Jacksonville, where his size and athletic traits quickly drew attention. He reclassified into the 2024 recruiting class and enrolled at Florida in the spring of 2024, accelerating his development timeline. He committed to the Gators in March of that year and signed shortly thereafter, choosing Florida over other offers that included Auburn and Syracuse.
Now, Wangoy gets a fresh start in Oxford.
With three years of eligibility remaining, he joins an Ole Miss program that has made a point of blending experienced transfers with developmental linemen who can grow within the system. Wangoy’s size, raw strength, and multi-sport background give him a high ceiling as he continues refining his technique and adjusting to the speed of the college game.
For Ole Miss, this is a bet on upside — a chance to mold a physically imposing lineman who is still early in his football journey. For Wangoy, it’s an opportunity to continue his development in a new environment and compete for a future role in the SEC trenches.
