Notes and Notables: Ole Miss pounds The Citadel, Rebels move to 9-1

OXFORD, Miss.(Release) Ole Miss did just about everything right on Saturday in a 49-0 win over The Citadel. The offense executed with precision, the defense was suffocating, and special teams were outstanding.

Here are some notes and notables from the Rebels’ victory courtesy of Ole Miss Athletics.

SERIES INFORMATION
• This was only the second meeting all-time between the Rebels and Bulldogs … Ole Miss leads 2-0, the other matchup a 27-7 victory in Oxford during the 2005 season.

CAPTAINS
• Tyler Banks (LB), Oscar Bird (P), Trace Bruckler (TE)

STARTERS
• OL Jayden Williams is Ole Miss’ active career leader in starts, making his 29th today at right tackle.
• LB TJ Dottery and LT Diego Pounds made their 19th consecutive starts at Ole Miss, which leads all active Rebels.
• CB Cedric Beavers made his first career start.
• LB Andrew Jones made his first start as a Rebel, the 16th total of his career.

GENERAL NOTES
• Today’s attendance was 67,326.
• Ole Miss is now 313-116-8 (.725) all-time in Oxford (290-113-8 after vacated wins) … Under Lane Kiffin, the Rebels are 34-6 at Vaught-Hemingway, including a 34-3 mark since the start of the 2021 season and a 20-1 record since 2023.
• Ole Miss is 74-17 (.813) vs. non-conference opponents dating back to 1994 … Under Kiffin, the Rebels are 23-2 in non-con action (20-0 in the regular season).
• Ole Miss is 9-1 for the first time in the Kiffin era and only the eighth time in program history, the first since the perfect 10-0 national championship season in 1962.

OFFENSIVE NOTES
• Ole Miss tallied 603 yards of total offense, giving head coach Lane Kiffin 29 games with at least 600 yards at Ole Miss (the second this season behind a 695 yard performance vs. Georgia State) … Prior to his arrival, Ole Miss had only 19 games with 600 or more yards.
• Ole Miss threw for a season-high 452 passing yards, the most by a Rebel team since throwing for a school-record 562 at Arkansas in 2024 … Kiffin now owns 10 of the 28 total 400-yard passing games in school history.
• QB Trinidad Chambliss threw for 333 yards and three TD on a 29-of-33 passing line … Chambliss is now 18th in Ole Miss single-season passing history (2,356), and his 332 yards of total offense moved him into 16th in total offense (2,790).
• RB Kewan Lacy rushed 11 times for 49 yards and three touchdowns, giving him 16 on the season to tie the Ole Miss single-season record set by Quinshon Judkins in 2022.
• Lacy’s 11 carries moved him into eighth in Ole Miss single-season history (200), and his 49 yards pushed him to 17th (912) … Lacy also broke 1,000 career rushing yards, currently with 1,016.
• A total of 12 different Rebels caught at least one pass, including four with at least five receptions (the first game with at least four since the 2022 Egg Bowl).
• WR Harrison Wallace III led the Rebels with a career-high eight catches for 87 yards.
• TE Caleb Odom recorded a career-high six receptions and a career-high 64 yards receiving.
• QB Austin Simmons reached 1,000 yards of total offense in his career, ending the day 7-of-12 passing for 100 yards and rushing four times for seven yards.
• QB AJ Maddox completed the first pass of his collegiate career in the win.
• WR Winston Watkins had a career-high five catches for 80 yards and his first career touchdown, an 11-yard score.
• WR’s Dillon Alfred and Caleb Cunningham each recorded their first collegiate catches in the victory, Alfred for 26 yards and Cunningham 19.
• TE Dae’Quan Wright had one catch for 13 yards, moving him into fourth all-time among Ole Miss tight ends in career yards (843).
• TE Luke Hasz caught his first two passes as a Rebel, hauling in 25 total yards.

DEFENSIVE NOTES
• With a shutout today, Ole Miss has now shut out an opponent for the second consecutive season for the first time since 2007 and 2008 … The Rebels beat Furman 76-0 to open the 2024 season.
• Ole Miss held The Citadel to 106 yards of total offense, the fewest by any Rebel defense since stuffing Memphis to 104 in 2014.
• The Rebels charted a season-high 13 tackles for loss, the most by Ole Miss since notching 13 at Arkansas in 2024.
• Ole Miss yielded just 23 passing yards, the fewest in the Kiffin era and the fewest allowed since allowing 21 against The Citadel on Oct. 8, 2005.
• DL Andrew Maddox recorded a career-high seven tackles, leading the Rebels in total tackles alongside LB TJ Dottery … Maddox also had 1.5 TFL, the first of his career, while Dottery tied a career-high with 2.0.
• DE Talib Graham recorded the first sack of his collegiate career in only his second career game … Graham had two total tackles, both for a loss.
• LB Suntarine Perkins’ half sack moved him into a tie for ninth on the all-time career sacks list at Ole Miss, tying Jared Ivey (16.0).
• LB Tyler Banks recorded career-highs in both tackles (6) and TFL (1.5).

SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
• K Lucas Carneiro recorded seven points, moving into ninth place in Ole Miss single season history in points kicking and 13th place in points scored with 96 points.
• P Oscar Bird sent both of his punts beyond 50 yards, averaging 56.5 per attempt with a long of 57.
