‘A Whole Different Vibe’: Ole Miss Defensive Tackle Zxavian Harris Ready for Kentucky

OXFORD, Miss. –– Ole Miss defensive tackle Zxavian Harris was part of the defense that was a dominant force in 2024. However, many of that group went on to play in the NFL, leaving Harris to be one of the new leaders. He’s not disappointing.
Loss to Kentucky in 2024 is Fueling Ole Miss
The Mississippi native had a fantastic first game as one of the more experienced players on the team. For his efforts, Harris picked up SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week honors.

Now he is focused on the next game, Kentucky, one that he’s going into with a different mentality.
“There is a whole different vibe. Last year it was like okay, but this year we’re ready. We are going to bring the fight to them…“

The Rebels played well on defense against the Wildcats in 2024, but ultimately lost the game on a late touchdown. It was a tough loss to take, and the players from the 2024 roster who are still with the team are more motivated this time around.
Harris Looking to Set New SEC Record
By the end of the season, Harris could hold an SEC record. The big defensive tackle is one blocked kick away from setting an SEC career record. He was well aware, but he is not just shooting for the one; he has a bigger goal for this season.
“I did (know about the record). I just need one more. I’m really trying to get like three more for the rest of the season. So, I’m trying to smash that record.“

The key to blocking kicks? It’s simple for Harris, “Just go get it. That’s all I got to say, just go get it.”
With at least 11 games to go, Harris has plenty of time to achieve that record. Could it happen in Lexington on Saturday?
