New York Giants Select Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart in First Round of 2025 NFL Draft

GREEN BAY, Wis. – With the 25th in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the New York Giants have selected the now former Ole Miss quarterback, Jaxson Dart.

Dart is one of the most highly-touted Ole Miss quarterbacks since Eli Manning in 2004, now following in the footsteps of the former Giant legend in New York. Though not projected to go as high as Manning, the 2004 No. 1 overall pick, Dart’s presence at the top of draft boards marks a notable return to relevance for the Rebels at the quarterback position.

Collegiate Career

As a true freshman at USC, Dart played six games, threw for 1,353 yards, 9 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Going into the 2022 season, Ole Miss needed a quarterback after Matt Corral’s departure, and insert Jaxson Dart.

Dart’s rise under head coach Lane Kiffin was marked by steady improvement and a firm grasp of a complex offensive scheme that showcased his arm strength, mobility and decision-making. NFL scouts praised his football IQ and physical tools, though some questioned his poise early in his college career. Dart matured into a reliable leader and leaves Ole Miss with a legacy.

In three years as the signal caller for the Rebels, Dart became the all-time leading passer in program history with 10,617 yards. The former Rebel also threw for 72 touchdown, 22 interceptions, and has the most wins as an Ole Miss quarterback with 29. Dart earned First-team All-SEC in 2024 and led the Rebels to a 10-3 record.

NFL Combine

Dart measured in at 6-foot-2, 223 pounds at the 2025 NFL Combine, rated the third-highest amongst quarterbacks as well. The former Rebel was a projected first to second round pick going into the combine with a player comparison to Gardner Minshew.

At the combine, Dart delivered a standout passing performance that significantly boosted his draft stock. Opting to participate in the throwing drills, Dart showcased his arm talent and precision on various levels. Notably, Dart chose not to run the 40-yard dash, but rushed for 1,500 and 12 touchdowns in three years at Ole Miss.
