Ole Miss Football Earns Trio of SEC Weekly Honors
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – (Release) Ole Miss football earned three weekly awards from the Southeastern Conference following its historic 28-10 victory over No. 2 Georgia last week, as announced by the SEC office on Monday morning.
Senior kicker Caden Davis earned SEC Special Teams Player of the Week after hitting five field goals against the Bulldogs, while senior defensive ends Jared Ivey and Princely Umanmielen split SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors after combining for four sacks and two forced fumbles to lead Ole Miss’ fearsome defensive front.
Caden Davis
Davis connected on all five of his field goal attempts in the rain to help push Ole Miss past Georgia, becoming the first Rebel kicker to make five field goals in a game since Luke Logan in 2018. Two of Davis’ successes came from at least 40 yards, including his second 50-yarder of the season with a 53-yard connection in the second quarter.
Davis’ big day against Georgia moved him up to sixth all-time at Ole Miss in career PATs made (92), seventh in career field goals made (38) and eighth in career points scored (206). On the season charts, his 107 points this year ranks fourth-most ever by a Rebel both overall and by a kicker.
Jared Ivey and Princely Umanmielen
Ivey and Umanmielen both led a dominant Ole Miss defensive effort against Georgia, as the Rebels held the Bulldogs to their fewest points of the Kirby Smart era (10), their fewest total yards since 2017 (245) and their fewest rushing yards since 2021 (59) – making the Rebels the first non-Alabama team to best Georgia since Florida in 2020.
Ivey ended the day with seven total tackles, a career-high five solo stops, two sacks for 19 yards, a forced fumble and two pass breakups – including one that resulted in an interception for the Rebels. Ivey’s 2.0 sacks marked the 15th and 16th of his Rebel career, moving him into ninth all-time at Ole Miss ahead of Dewayne Dotson.
Umanmielen, meanwhile, notched five total tackles (three solo) with two sacks of his own for 14 yards and a sack fumble. Umanmielen has six sacks in his last three games, and his 9.5 sacks on the year rank him tied for seventh in Ole Miss single-season history.
The 10th-ranked Rebels are off this week before a trip to The Swamp on Sat., Nov. 23 to take on the Florida Gators. Kickoff in Gainesville is slated for 11 a.m. CTon either ABC or ESPN.
