Lane Kiffin expects star Ole Miss wide receiver Tre Harris back for Florida game
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss star wide receiver Tre Harris has been out for three-and-a-half games now, but according to head coach Lane Kiffin, it looks as if Harris will finally be able to make his way back to the gridiron when the Rebels take on Florida this Saturday in Gainesville.
“Tre is looking like he’s ready to go,” Coach Kiffin said in his Monday press conference.
“Really excited to get the best receiver in the country back. It’s been really challenging (to play without him). He’s really wanted to play. He’s been close, but he’d try on Saturdays and couldn’t do it. He feels different now and is excited to get back in this. It’s great timing.”
Coach Kiffin on Tre Harris returning
Even though he has missed the last three games, coming against Arkansas, Oklahoma and Georgia, as well as half of the LSU game, Harris still is No. 1 in the SEC in receiving yards with 987. He was leading the nation more than a week after his injury vs. the Tigers and still sits at No. 5 in the country.
Teammate Jordan Watkins also talked about Harris’ potential return and how the team has played in his absence.
“I think we’ve stepped up a lot,” Watkins said.
“It’s a good thing to have Tre back out there. Having him back is going to be big-time for us if he’s able to go Saturday. He adds big-time playmaking ability.”

It’s a good time for Harris to return as Ole Miss must win its final two games — against Florida and Mississippi State — to remain in contention for the 12-team College Football Playoffs. New CFP rankings will be released Tuesday.
“Our backs are against the wall,” Watkins said Monday.
“The clock is against our face and we’re running out of time. If we lose, we’re obviously not in playoff contention. Knowing we have to win every game, you can see that in terms of how well we’re playing on both sides of the ball.”
