2026 Running Back Jayson Franklin on First SEC Collegiate Offer from Ole Miss: Time just froze, it felt amazing”
OXFORD, Miss. – This past Monday, 2026 running back Jayson Franklin attended the Mercer Mega Camp with hopes of impressing as many coaches as possible who were in attendance. To Franklin’s surprise, Ole Miss wide receiver coach George McDonald was there to witness it all. Following the conclusion of the camp, McDonald had a crucial conversation with Franklin.
“I talked to Coach McDonald, and at the end of the camp, I shake his hand and take a picture. He turns to me and says, ‘Jayson, we’re going to offer you.’ Man, time just froze, it felt amazing.“

Taking a look at Franklin’s sophomore film, it doesn’t take long to realize that his offer from McDonald is much-deserved. Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 205 pounds, Franklin rushed for nearly 1,500 yards with 16 touchdowns. Following the season, Franklin was named an All-Conference player.

But regardless of his past success, Franklin is doing all he can to try and take his game to a more advanced level.
“Every day it’s some sort of training, whether it’s recovering my body, going to the weight room, the field, I do something every day. I have a personal trainer, and I work with him, he gets me right. He got my 40 time down to a 4.47. I just put in the work all offseason that way, I can sign big when it matters. ”

Anticipating that Franklin gets a number of other offers, I asked the North Carolina native about who he cheered for growing up and who he’d like to hear from further in his recruitment.
“Honestly, I would love to hear from any SEC school, but Ole Miss is my dream school.“

Moving forward, Jayson is wasting no time trying to get better and garner another SEC offer. He will be attending the Alabama football camp on June 10th. As for his status with Ole Miss, Franklin is eager to take a trip down to Oxford, Mississippi.
“I definitely want to get down to Ole Miss. I heard it’s amazing. The stadium, everything is amazing.”
