BREAKING: Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart announces his return to the Rebels for 2024

OXFORD, Miss. — After much rumors and speculation surrounding his status for 2024, Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has confirmed via social media that he will be back for another year at Ole Miss!

Dart closed out this past season with 2,985 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, a 65.4 completion percentage, and five interceptions, six fewer than in 2022. Despite getting sacked 12 more times, Jaxson still found a way to improve nearly every aspect of his game.

Dart’s impressive 2023 was highlighted in two of the Rebels’ most difficult games of the year, against LSU and Texas A&M. In both of these wins, Dart threw for a combined 776 yards, six touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

And, it was also highlighted by his performance in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, a 38-25 Ole Miss win.

Even though Dart had a fantastic year, there are reasons why he has a chance to get even better heading into next year’s season.

The first of those reasons is that Dart is returning two of his three starting wide receivers, Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins. Additionally, tight end Caden Prieskorn is coming back along with some of the younger receivers, like Ayden Williams and Cayden Lee. To top it all off, Deion Smith, the former No. 1 JUCO player in the country, will also be a target for Dart. The Rebels have also added South Carolina transfer Juice Wells.

As I mentioned previously, Dart was sacked 12 more times in 2023 than in 2022, which is a problem that will need to be fixed in the future. If the Rebs can lower the number of sacks on Dart, the receiving threats who were mentioned in the paragraph above will have more time to get themselves open and move the ball down the field.

At the end of the day, Jaxson’s return automatically qualifies him as a Heisman contender and makes Lane Kiffin’s offense one of the most dangerous in the nation.
