No. 24 Ole Miss Defeats Little Rock 58-45; Madison Scott reaches 1,000 career points
OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 24 Ole Miss women’s basketball team defeated Little Rock, 58-45, inside the SJB Pavilion on Saturday.
“I am just grateful for the win today,” Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin said.
“Little Rock made us grind it out and low scoring. Just the way that they managed the game, Coach Foley is a legendary coach so you have to exhibit patience and is a different style of basketball.”

“Truly happy for Madi,” McPhee-McCuin said.
“…I think she was more focused on making sure that we were in the right place and doing a lot of talking and in her pure fashion, she steps up when she needs to be 100 percent from the field..really happy for Madi. She’s deserving of it. She will continue to blossom.”

Ole Miss was without senior transfer point guard KK Deans who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. Coach Yo believes Deans should receive a medical redshirt.
“Hopefully, according to the rules, she should get it. She hasn’t played in 30 percent of the games. This didn’t happen in the second half of the season and it’s season ending. Hopefully she will get another year. But right now, we’ve got to continue to grow and build and focus on getting our freshman PGs to come along and just allowing everybody to get comfortable with stepping up and playing without her.“

Little Rock was led by Faith Lee with 16 points.
The Rebels took control early in the game and their defense held Little Rock to only five points in the first quarter.
Ole Miss’ defense made it difficult for Little Rock to score from the outside, going 0-for-2 in the first two quarters and finished the game 1-for-8 from behind the arc.
At the half, Ole Miss took a 26-15 advantage into the locker room.
Little Rock scored 16 points in the third period that cut the Rebels lead down to seven at 38-31 going into the fourth.
The Trojans continued to cut into the Ole Miss lead in the fourth as they made it a two-point game twice at 40-38 (8:05) and 42-40 (7:26). Ole Miss answered and pushed the lead back out to eight points at 48-40.
“We were focused and locked in,” McPhee-McCuin said.
“(Little Rock) makes you play in a unique way, so defensively we did some things we don’t normally do. We were able to stay in front of them and because we were able to get stops we were able to push on the offensive end.”
