Georgia Tech transfer defensive lineman Akelo Stone commits to Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. — Georgia Tech transfer defensive lineman Akelo Stone announced his commitment to Ole Miss Friday via his Twitter.

The 6-foot-2, 280-pound Stone notched 12 tackles, one sack and one pass deflection in 2022 for Georgia Tech last season, his third year with the team.

According to Jackson Caudell with Georgia Tech SI.com, “Stone was one of the captains of the spring game for the Yellow Jackets and after the game, was awarded the Rock Perdoni outstanding defensive lineman award. Stone was expected to be a big part of the defensive line rotation this season…”

He will be a redshirt sophomore this fall in Oxford with two years of eligibility remaining.

Stone is a Savannah, Georgia native (class of 2020 out of Jenkins High School). He was ranked the No. 39 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 90 overall player in the state of Georgia in his class.

Before committing to Georgia Tech, Stone had offers from Army, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Missouri, Troy, Tulane, UAB, Wake Forest and West Virginia, among others.

Ole Miss defensive line coach Randall Joyner has been Stone’s primary recruiter.
