AUBURN, Ala. — No. 1 Ole Miss (14-4, 1-1, SEC) takes on Auburn (14-5, 1-1) in the rubber game of the series Saturday. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. (CT).

It’s the first sellout for Auburn since Feb. of 2019. Hotty Toddy!

The Rebels won game one, 13-6, before falling 19-5 in game two.

9th INNING

Ole Miss leads the home team Tigers, 14-2, as we start the final inning. Jordan Armstrong on the mound for Auburn. 

Top of 9th

Due up for Ole Miss: 8-9-1. Alderman-Burford-Gonzalez

Alderman: Kemp flies out to center to start the 9th. ONE OUT.

Burford: The Ole Miss third baseman strikes out looking. TWO OUTS.

Jacob Gonzalez: The Rebels’ shortstop is up next, and he doubles to left center! He’s now 3-4 today.

Chatagnier: Peyton steps up with RISP, two outs. He gets an RBI single through the left side! Gonzalez scores and Ole Miss takes the lead, 15-2. 

Tolley: Banks is up to bat with runner on first. Then, Chatagnier advances to second on a balk. Banks strikes out and to the final frame we go. Ole Miss tacks on one more run and leads 15-2.

Bottom of 9th

Ole Miss leads Auburn 15-2. Due up for the Tigers: 3-4-5. Brandon Johnson comes on to the mound to close for the Rebels.

Chatagnier: The Ole Miss shortstop strikes out swinging. ONE OUT.

Tolley: Banks comes up with one out, runner on first. HE DOUBLES TO LEFT CENTER! Gonzalez tagged out at the plate. TWO OUTS.

Tim Elko: The Captain is up to bat next. He singles to center, scoring Tolley! Ole Miss takes a 13-2 lead. That’s Elko’s 3rd RBI today. He’s driven in 29 this season.

Hayden Leatherwood: Hayden comes up to bat with runners on the corners, two outs. He strikes out swinging to end the frame. But Ole Miss adds on 2 more in the 8th.

Ole Miss leads Auburn, 14-2, as we start the home portion of the 8th. Due up for Auburn: 8-9-1. Hunter Elliot back to the mound for Ole Miss. He’s thrown 47 pitches as he starts his third inning. Of those, 31 have been strikes. 

Land: Elliott gets the leadoff Tiger to go down looking! ONE OUT.

OleMiss leads Auburn, 11-2, as we start the seventh. Sheehan to the mound for Auburn.

Due up for the Rebels: 5-6-7. Bench-Dunhurst-Leatherwood. 

Bench: Justin is HBP and the Rebs have a leadoff runner on base!

Dunhurst: The Ole Miss catcher strikes out. ONE OUT.

Leatherwood: Left fielder Hayden Leatherwood is up next. He’s got runner on first, one out. He strikes out. TWO OUTS.

Kemp Alderman: The Ole Miss DH steps up with runner on first, two outs. He hits a two-out, RBI double down the right field line! Ole Miss leads 12-2!

Burford: Reagan lines out to left field to end the frame. But Ole Miss tacks on one more as we head to the stretch.

Ole Miss leads 12-2 as we head to the home portion of the 7th. Due up for Auburn will be: 5-6-7. Hunter Elliott back to the mound for the Rebels.

Ole Miss leads 7-1 as we start the sixth. Burkhalter back to the mound for Auburn.

Due up for Ole Miss: 7-8-9. That’s Leatherwood-Alderman-Burford.

Leatherwood: Hayden HOMERS TO RIGHT CENTER! Ole Miss leads 8-1. 

Alderman: Back to back JACKS as Alderman homers! Review on the play. It’s ruled a HOME RUN! Rebels lead 9-1!

Burford: Reagan singles through the left side. Rebels with runner on, no outs.

Jacob Gonzalez: He doubles down the left field line. Burford to third. Rebels with two RISP! No outs. Ole Miss leads 9-1!

*New pitcher for Auburn. Tommy Sheehan to the mound for Burkhalter. 

Peyton Chatagnier: The Ole Miss second baseman comes up to bat with two RISP and no outs. He singles to left, scoring Gonzo and Burford! Rebels lead 11-1!

Ben Van Cleve: Pinch hitting for Sapp. He grounds into a 6-4-3 double play. Chatagnier out. Rebels with nobody on, two outs. Ole Miss leads 11-1.

Elko: He pops up to second to end the frame, but the Rebels score FOUR in the frame. Ole Miss leads Auburn, 11-1.

Ole Miss leads 11-1. Jack Dougherty back to the mound for Ole Miss. He’s thrown 87 pitches, 53 of them strikes, thus far as we start the bottom of the sixth. Due up for Auburn: 7-8-9.

Hudson Sapp: He is on to pinch hit for McCants. Rebels with runners on the corners, one out. Ole Miss leads 3-1. Chatagnier steals second. Rebs with two RISP, one out. HUDSON GETS A TWO-RBI DOUBLE TO RIGHT CENTER! Chatagnier scores, Gonzalez scores! OLE MISS LEADS 5-1!

*New pitcher for Auburn: Blake Burkhalter on for Trace Bright. Rebels have runner on second, one out. 

Tim Elko: TWO RUN HOMER FOR THE CAPTAIN! OLE MISS LEADS 7-1!

Justin Bench: He flies out to center. TWO OUTS.

Dunhurst: Dunhurst goes down swinging, but not BEFORE the REBELS SCORE FOUR IN THE FRAME TO TAKE A 7-1 LEAD.

Ole Miss leads 7-1 as we head to the bottom of the fifth. Due up for Auburn: 3-4-5. Jack Dougherty back to work on the mound. 

DiChiara: Leadoff ground out to short. ONE OUT. 

Dyal: The Auburn catcher draws a one-out walk.

Ware: The Tigers’ right fielder goes down swinging! Another K for Dougherty. That’s his seventh of the day. TWO OUTS.

Alderman: The Rebels’ DH today is up with nobody on, two outs. He flies out to right and the Rebs go down in order.

Alderman: DH Kemp flies out to center as the Rebels start the third. ONE OUT.

Burford: The Rebels’ third baseman steps up to bat. He’s hitting .325 on the season. He strikes out looking and Ole Miss has TWO OUTS.

Gonzalez: Ole Miss shortstop comes up to bat with two outs, nobody on. He draws a walk. Runner on for the Rebels.

Chatagnier: Rebels’ second baseman made a huge defensive play in the second inning. He steps up with runner on, two outs. Chatagnier reaches on an error by left fielder, advances to second, RBI (2-2 FBBK); Gonzalez scored, unearned. Rebels lead 1-0!

TJ McCants: Ole Miss right fielder steps up to bat with RISP, two outs. HE SINGLES to right and scores Chatagnier! REBELS LEAD 2-0!

Tim Elko: McCants steals second. Rebels have RISP, two outs. The Captain with an RBI single through the left side that scores TJ! Ole Miss leads 3-0! 

Justin Bench: He grounds out to third but not before Ole Miss scores THREE to lead 3-0.

Game is scoreless. Due up for Auburn will be 5-6-7. Rebels send Dougherty back to the mound. He threw 20 pitches in the first inning, 13 of which were strikes.

Moore: He singles through the left side to give the Tigers a runner on base.

Carlson: Moore advances to second on an error by the Ole Miss pitcher on a failed pickoff attempt. DH Carlson has runner on second, one out. He draws a full-count walk. Auburn has runners on first and second, one out.

Farquhar: The Tigers’ second baseman steps up with runners on first and second with one out. He falls behind in the count quickly, 0-2, and then pops up to Chatagnier in a fantastic play! TWO OUTS.

Bello: He lines out to center to end the inning!

The series is tied 1-1. Auburn will send Montgomery, Alabama native Trace Bright to the mound, while the Rebels will start Jack Dougherty.

Jacob Gonzalez: The Ole Miss shortstop strikes out looking as we start the game. ONE OUT.

Peyton Chatagnier: Peyton strikes out looking also. The called third strike was a 95 mph fastball on the outside corner. TWO OUTS.

TJ McCants: The right fielder hits a two-out double to left center! Rebels with a runner on!

Tim Elko: The Captain has a RISP with two outs. He strikes out swinging, and to the bottom of the first we go. Rebels strand Chatagnier on second.
