Former 5-star running back Zach Evans commits to Ole Miss, will transfer from TCU
OXFORD — Ole Miss picked up a huge commit from the transfer portal Thursday morning as TCU transfer and former 5-star running back Zach Evans committed to the Rebels.
Following his high school career, Evans was one of the nation’s top running backs, ranked as the No. 16 overall prospect and No. 2 running back in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2020 class.
He was also the highest-ranked recruit the Horned Frogs had ever signed.
Evans made his announcement on Twitter:
For I know the plans I have for you, Declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

While at TCU for the last two seasons, Evans rushed 146 times for 1,063 yards which gives him a 7.3 yards per carry average.
He was limited with injuries during his sophomore season in 2021, but he still notched 648 yards and five touchdowns while only playing in six games.

Rebels may recall Ole Miss was on Evans’ list of top schools before he signed with TCU and head coach Gary Patterson. Patterson was replaced by new TCU coach Sonny Dykes in November, 2021.
