Most Impactful Rebels for 2019: No. 43 C.J. Miller
OXFORD, Miss. — As we count down the days until the Ole Miss season opener against Memphis in the Liberty Bowl, we are releasing who we think the Top 50 Most Impactful Players will be for the Rebels this season. This series is a way for Ole Miss fans to learn more about players to keep an eye on this fall.
With 43 days before kickoff, coming in at No. 43…
C.J. Miller
When he signed with Ole Miss in the class of 2017, C.J. Miller was a four-star prospect at defensive back, according to ESPN, out of Powder Springs, Georgia.
As a freshman, he appeared in four games with six tackles before receiving a medical redshirt. In 2018, Miller had 31 tackles at safety for the Rebels.
In the Grove Bowl this spring, Miller notched a strong performance that culminated with five tackles and an interception. Heading into fall camp, he and Vernon Dasher have been named as the backups at strong safety to JUCO transfer Jonathan Haynes.

Miller absolutely has the size and ability of an SEC-caliber safety. After being injured for part of 2017 and 2018, he will have the opportunity to try and earn the starting job throughout fall camp as the safety spots are still not firmly solidified. This season we expect him to continue to build off of his thirty-one tackle performance from last season. He’s certainly putting in the strength and conditioning work during the summer offseason.

As a redshirt sophomore, Miller is still an underclassman. We look for him to have a strong 2019 and then expect him to take on an even bigger role in 2020 with the departure of Dasher, Linton, and Julius at strong and free safety.
