Ole Miss drops 6-0 game at No. 1 Vanderbilt
No. 1 ranked Vanderbilt (28-7, 11-2 SEC) used a complete game from pitcher Carson Fulmer, along with three solo home runs, to defeat the Diamond Rebels, 6-0, Thursday night. Ole Miss (16-18, 5-8 SEC) was held to no runs for the first time since May 10, 2014.
Christian Trent (5-3) pitched 6.1 innings and took the loss for the Rebels. He gave up nine hits and six runs (five earned) while facing 32 Vandy batters.
Mitchell Babb came in for Ole Miss and pitched 1.2 innings. He retired all five batters faced, holding his opponent scoreless for the sixth consecutive time coming in as a reliever.
Colby Bortles had a double for the Rebels in the fourth inning and Errol Robinson added a single in the eighth, as Ole Miss went 2-30 (.067) for the night. Vanderbilt was 9-32, hitting .281 in the win.
Ole Miss will look to rebound Friday night with Brady Bramlett on the mound. First pitch will be at 6:30 pm CT. The game will be televised on the SEC Network+ and can be heard on the Ole Miss Radio Network.
