Ole Miss’ Corey Chest to Enter Transfer Portal

OXFORD, Miss. —With the transfer portal for men’s basketball opening Tuesday, April 7, there is a ton of movement happening across college basketball as players announce their intent to enter. Corey Chest is one of those moving pieces as the Ole Miss forward intends to enter the portal and find a new school.

The sophomore transferred in from LSU and averaged 13 minutes per game for Ole Miss this past season. Chest made 34 appearances and four starts for the Rebels, notching an average of 2.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game.

Before transferring to Ole Miss, Chest spent two seasons in Baton Rouge playing for the Tigers. He redshirted his true freshman season, but went on to play in 26 games for LSU with 19 starts in 2024-2025, where he averaged 6.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the Tigers.

Corey Chest played high school basketball at Link Academy, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 102 overall player and No. 16 power forward in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings.

Chest was a rotational player for head coach Chris Beard’s Rebels with a front court that had a lot of names and only a few spaces to fill. His best game this season came against Vanderbilt on March 3, where he tallied seven points and 11 rebounds.

Ole Miss finished the 2025-26 season with a 15-20 overall record and 4-14 mark in conference play. They made a furious run in the SEC Tournament, winning three games and advancing to the semifinals. However, they ultimately lost to Arkansas in the tourney to bring their season to a close.
