MINNEAPOLIS — The stage is set for a Round of 32 showdown as Ole Miss Rebels women’s basketball will face the Minnesota Golden Gophers women’s basketball on Sunday, March 22, with tipoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT.
The Rebels punched their ticket to the second round with an impressive 81-66 win over the Gonzaga Bulldogs Friday afternoon, showcasing the physicality, defensive intensity, and balance that have defined Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin’s squad all season. Ole Miss controlled the game from start to finish, limiting Gonzaga’s perimeter attack while capitalizing on opportunities in transition and in the paint.
Meanwhile, No. 4 seeded Minnesota (23-8, 13-5 Big Ten) advanced on its home floor with a 75-58 win over Green Bay women’s basketball, using its own defensive pressure and efficient offense to move on in front of a strong home crowd of 10,355. The Golden Gophers will now look to build on that momentum as they prepare to face a battle-tested SEC opponent.
Sunday’s matchup sets up a compelling contrast between Ole Miss’ physical, defensive-minded approach and Minnesota’s balanced attack, with a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line.
With both teams coming off convincing first-round victories, expect a competitive, high-energy game as the Rebels continue their March run. The Rebel Walk is in Minneapolis for NCAA Tournament action and will bring you all the latest!
