It was an exhibition of pure dominance from the Rebels, as they did not trail for a single second in the game. Christeen Iwuala, Cotie McMahon, and Latasha Lattimore all reached double figures. Iwuala tallied 18 points and nine rebounds, McMahon finished with 13 points, six rebounds, and two assists, and Lattimore recorded 14 points, four rebounds, and one assist.
This game was never in doubt, even without Sira Thienou who was injured back in the Tennessee game; the Rebels looked like themselves again, breaking a four-game losing streak in the process. The entire team played well, and they were clearly having fun. The team bombed threes, shooting 13 from beyond the arc and making seven. Ole Miss attempts roughly five threes a game; they almost tripled that tonight with 13.
Ball movement was incredible and defense was even better, as the team held Auburn to six points for the entire first period, marking the end of the Tigers’ hopes early.
First half highlights
Ole Miss dominated the whole first quarter, only allowing Auburn to score six points. Iwuala and McMahon lit up the stat sheet, with Iwuala picking up eight points and eight rebounds, and McMahon with seven points, one rebound, and an assist. The defense was other-worldly, and the Tigers’ basket appeared to have a lid on it. The Rebels looked like themselves for the first time in a while, with a dominant quarter giving them a 21-6 lead and a massive advantage for the rest of the game.

The second quarter was much of the same, and it was clear Auburn was outmatched. The team started to do things uncharacteristic of their usual plays: shooting threes. They shot six three-pointers in the second quarter, alone, making five of them. It was an offensive explosion for the entire first half, with Ole Miss heading into the break with a dominant 48-20 lead; the game was all but over by half.
Second half highlights
Ole Miss began the second half with a scoring drought. They did not score their first points until there were six minutes left to go in the quarter. Luckily, their earlier lead allowed them to be more than okay with the drought, as Auburn tried its best to make a dent in the lead —Â to no avail — as Ole Miss continued to score after scoring that first basket. It was a weaker quarter for the Rebels, but they still had a big lead, heading into the fourth up 58-37.
In the final quarter. Ole Miss had the game in hand and just kept scoring. Auburn was trying their best, a commendable effort, but the talent gap on this night was just far too wide, as the Rebels were scoring with ease. Ole Miss held on to its lead, winning with ease, 73-57.
