Ole Miss hires Rebel Legend Terrence Metcalf to Pete Golding’s Staff
OXFORD, Miss.—Ole Miss has hired another Rebel legend to its football coaching staff. Terrence Metcalf joins as assistant offensive coach, offensive line assistant, and personnel assistant. Head coach Pete Golding continues to build on an already strong coaching staff for next season. The Clarksdale native brings valuable expertise to the staff.

Ole Miss & Pro History

The offensive tackle played for the Rebels from 1997 to 2001, earning multiple honors, including Second Team All-American (1999), First Team All-SEC (2000, 2001), Consensus First Team All-American (2001), and other achievements.

Building on his college success at Ole Miss, Metcalf was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 2002 NFL draft. He then played for the Bears from 2002 to 2008, including the 2006 season when the team appeared in Super Bowl XLI.

Metcalf’s outstanding football career continued to earn recognition in the years that followed. In 2025, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as one of only three offensive linemen that year. He was also inducted into the Ole Miss Sports Hall of Fame (2017) and the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame (2021).

Coaching Journey

After his playing career, Metcalf was recognized for his athletic ability and leadership. This prompted his return to Mississippi to begin coaching. He held positions at Oxford High School and Pearl River Community College. In 2022, he joined Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, serving first as offensive line coach, then as the Tigers’ head coach from 2023 to 2024.

Now, after a successful coaching journey at the high school and community college levels, he returns to Oxford, Mississippi, to join Pete Golding’s staff for the 2026 season. His experience and leadership will benefit players and bring a new dynamic to the Ole Miss offensive line.

Parks Burcham is a sophomore at the University of Mississippi. He is majoring in Journalism, emphasis in Sports Media, with a minor in Sports Management. He is originally from Booneville, Mississippi and graduated high school from Jumpertown Attendance Center.His favorite sports are basketball and football. He chose this path because he has always been extremely interested in the sports world. Parks enjoys all aspects of the game and hopes to do great work in this field.
