Ole Miss’ Cotie McMahon Earns Sporting News Second-Team All-America Honors
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss star Cotie McMahon continues to collect national recognition following an outstanding season in Oxford.
On Monday, McMahon was named a Second-Team All-American by The Sporting News, marking another major honor in what has been one of the most decorated individual seasons in recent Ole Miss women’s basketball history.
The recognition represents the sixth All-America honor of McMahon’s career and the highest placement she has received on an All-America team to date. Just last week, the standout Rebel forward was also recognized as an honorable mention All-American by USA TODAY.
National Recognition Throughout the Season
McMahon has been a fixture on major national award lists throughout the year.
The Dayton, Ohio native was named a finalist for several of the sport’s most prestigious honors, including a spot on the Cheryl Miller Award Final Five, the Wooden Award National Ballot, and the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Team.
Altogether, McMahon has earned more than 20 individual accolades this season.
Her impact was also recognized within the conference, where she was voted SEC Newcomer of the Year while also earning First-Team All-SEC honors.
A Dominant Season in Oxford
In her lone season with the Rebels, McMahon quickly established herself as one of the SEC’s most dynamic players. The senior is averaging 19.9 points per game while shooting 45.1 percent from the field, along with 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in just over 30 minutes per contest.
Her performance became even stronger once conference play began. During the grueling SEC schedule, McMahon elevated her production to 21.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. Her scoring output has already placed her among the top single-season performers in program history.
With 675 points this season, she currently holds the fifth-highest single-season scoring total in Ole Miss history.
She has also recorded 19 games with 20 or more points, tying former Rebel standout Bianca Thomas for the second-most 20-point performances in a single season by an Ole Miss player.
March Madness Awaits
McMahon’s next opportunity to add to her remarkable season will come on the sport’s biggest stage. Ole Miss is preparing to face No. 12 seed Gonzaga in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Minneapolis.
Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on Friday, with the game set to air on ESPN2.
With McMahon leading the way, the Rebels will look to turn an award-filled season into another deep postseason run.
