Five Straight Trips: Coach Yo’s Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Team Set for Another NCAA Tournament Appearance

OXFORD, Miss. — For the fifth straight season, Ole Miss women’s basketball is preparing to hear its name called on Selection Sunday.

The Rebels enter the NCAA Tournament selection show with a 23–11 record after a season that once again saw head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin guide the program into the national spotlight. Ole Miss advanced to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament before falling to Texas Longhorns women’s basketball, 85–68, on March 7. Since then, the Rebels have been waiting to find out where their postseason journey will begin.

One thing is certain: Ole Miss will be dancing again.

Sunday’s announcement will officially mark the Rebels’ fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, giving the program its longest streak of tournament bids since the legendary run of 11 straight appearances from 1982 to 1992.

Now the only question remaining is where the Rebels will land when the bracket is revealed.

Charlie Creme’s Bracketology shows Rebels as a No. 5 seed

While the NCAA selection committee revealed the top 16 seeds and host sites on Friday, Ole Miss was not among the programs selected to host first- and second-round games.

That means the Rebels will likely head on the road to begin tournament play.

Most projections currently place Ole Miss somewhere in the No. 5 or No. 6 seed range, which would still give the Rebels a favorable path in the bracket depending on the matchup.

According to ESPN bracketologist Charlie Creme’s latest projections, Ole Miss could be headed to Minneapolis as a No. 5 seed in the Sacramento region. In his scenario, the Rebels would share the pod with host team Minnesota, along with Miami (Ohio) and Idaho.

Of course, until the bracket is officially revealed, nothing is final.

Another Consistent Year Under Coach Yo

Under McPhee-McCuin, Ole Miss has become one of the most consistent programs in the SEC. She has now led the Rebels to the Big Dance four consecutive years entering this season, including Sweet 16 appearances in 2023 and 2025.

Her teams have built their identity on defense, toughness, and relentless effort — a formula that has kept Ole Miss competitive in one of the toughest leagues in the country.

“We’re going to be competitive. We’re going to defend, and we’re going to represent the conference and our university at a high level,” McPhee-McCuin said earlier this month. “Anything outside of that, I can’t control. The committee is going to do their best job, and then we’ll deal with the cards that we’re dealt.”

Selection Sunday in Oxford

The excitement around the program remains high. Ole Miss will host a Selection Sunday watch party at the SJB Pavilion, where players, coaches, and fans will gather to learn where the Rebels will begin their March journey.

The selection show begins at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN, with doors opening for the watch party at 6 p.m. CT.

Soon enough, the Rebels will know where they’re headed.

But one thing is already certain — Ole Miss will be dancing once again.
