BOOM! Ole Miss Lands 2027 Commit Ben’Jarvius Shumaker
OXFORD, Miss.– On Friday, Ole Miss landed Class of 2027 four-star defensive lineman Ben’Jarvius Shumaker. It is undeniable how big a commitment this is for Pete Golding and Randall Joyner.
First, I want to thank God, my family, and my coaches for believing in me and supporting me through this journey.
With that being said, I’m blessed to announce that I have committed to Ole Miss.

Shumaker is a 6’3, 260-pound defensive lineman from Ackerman, Mississippi. Currently playing defensive tackle in high school, I see him as an edge. Shumaker is very quick, easily getting off blocks with powerful swim moves. He could easily be a very solid edge for the Rebels, a position that will be clearing up a bit after this upcoming season.
Shumaker is coming off a 113-tackle, eight-and-a-half sack season, once again at the defensive tackle position. This showcases even more, in my opinion, how effective he could be at the edge position. The way he plays the game on the defensive line leaves my jaw on the floor. Everything is fluid with him; there are zero wasted movements, and he never gives up on a play, sometimes meaning that he hits the quarterback a bit too late.
Shumaker was being recruited by some heavy hitters. Tennessee, Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M were just a few of the schools in the running for his talents. He ultimately chose the Rebels over all of these teams, deciding to stay in-state. In today’s climate, though, recruits flip at an absurd rate, and if he somehow has a better year than he did last year, Ole Miss will have to do a lot of work to fight off the other teams that want Shumaker’s talents.
It is yet another recruiting win for Golding and his staff, this time against some of the heaviest hitters in the sport. The significance of Shumaker’s commitment cannot be overstated in terms of Ole Miss’ staying power near the top of the sport.
