A Visit with 2028 WR Chase Hancock; Ole Miss Surging for Arkansas Talent

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss has been highly active with recruits recently, sending out offers and hosting visits with plenty of prospects from the 2027 and 2028 classes. Chase Hancock is one recruit who’s been on the receiving end of these gestures.

Hancock is currently an unrated wide receiver for Pulaski Academy, out of Little Rock, Arkansas. As a sophomore, he finished the 2025 season with over 800 receiving yards and became the state leader in the 100-meter dash just over a week ago.

These impressive performances, regardless of ratings, have put his name on the map and led to an influx of attention as of late. The Rebels have been among the teams to get the receiver on campus recently, hosting him for an unofficial visit last Tuesday.

“Honestly, it was great overall,” Hancock told The Rebel Walk after his visit.

Just being able to meet the coaches and players was really the best part because I was able to talk to the players and ask them questions if I had one.

Chase Hancock on his visit to Ole Miss

This was the second time the receiver had visited Oxford, with his first coming back in June of 2024, when Ole Miss was still led by former head coach Lane Kiffin. So, this was Hancock’s first chance to meet the new staff.

But the staff isn’t the only thing that has changed; the roster has, too. Although Hancock might not play with many of the current contributors, he said he was able to make quick connections with wide receivers Johntay Cook and Cameron Miller.

The connection with Cook makes plenty of sense. Although Cook has not seen too much time on the field in college yet, Cook and Hancock’s high school films resemble each other, both showcasing breakaway speed and shiftiness.

One should be able to tell just by Hancock’s 100-meter time that his acceleration and overall speed are major contributors to his success, but if that’s not enough, just watch his film, and then remind yourself that he’s just a sophomore.

At 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, with two years of high school left, there’s still a ton of time for him to sharpen and refine his skills. His size may be the most concerning factor as of now, but, again, with two years until college, there’s plenty of time for him to grow.

Hancock went into detail on what areas he believes are most important for him to improve on next.

“Most importantly, my blocking,” Hancock said. “And creating even more separation at the top of my routes.”

He also mentioned how he grew up watching wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Ja’Marr Chase, modeling his game after them. If Hancock can do as he says and continue to improve, there’s no reason he cannot one day make his own mark. It’ll take a lot of work, but there’s no question Hancock has the motivation and determination to make it happen.

Seeing where I can be in the future drives me, especially going on visits and meeting coaches. Also, my family drives me because I want to make a better future for them.

The biggest question, which likely won’t have an answer for a while, is what school Hancock choose as the best place for him to make his dreams come true. We can tell you, Ole Miss is certainly near the top of his list now.

Although Ole Miss has not officially offered yet, Hancock listed the Rebels as one of his top choices.

“LSU, Ohio State, Alabama, Ole Miss, Oregon,” Hancock said as he listed some of his top schools. Oklahoma, Miami, SMU, Memphis and USC rounded out the list, with Oklahoma and Memphis as the ones he has offers from as of now.

He still has upcoming unofficial visits with Kentucky, which just recently offered, and Florida in April. The in-state Razorbacks also received a visit from the young receiver about a week and a half ago, which they followed with an offer the next day.

Hancock’s recruiting is quickly amping up, and with as much time as he has left, he’ll surely begin receiving attention from every school around the country, as he has all the talent in the world to finish his high school career as a top recruit in the class of 2028.
