How They Got Here
Ole Miss started the season unranked, with a handful of preseason top 25 opponents awaiting them. However, even after a dominant opening-weekend sweep over the Nevada Wolf Pack — the regular season Mountain West Champions from a season before — D1Baseball still had the Rebs unranked.
Moving into week two, Ole Miss played two mid-week games, coming away with a sloppy victory over Arkansas State, followed by an 18-3, run-rule victory over Jackson State, as they headed into their weekend series against Missouri State.
The Diamond Rebels had another slow start but ended up coming away with an 11-6 win on Friday night, a 6-3 win on Saturday afternoon, and a hard-fought 3-2 win on Sunday afternoon to complete the sweep and move to 8-0 on the year.
A Look Ahead
Ole Miss returns to the diamond for a midweek showdown against Southeast Missouri State on Tuesday at 4 p.m. CT, before heading on the road for the first time this season. They travel to Houston for the Bruce Bolt College Classic, where they will take on Baylor, Ohio State, and their first ranked matchup of the season against No. 9 Coastal Carolina.
