Pittsboro, Miss. — The future of Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss now rests in the hands of a Mississippi judge.
Chambliss’ motion for a preliminary injunction is being heard today, Feb. 12, in Chancery Court in Calhoun County as part of his lawsuit against the NCAA. The filing seeks to prevent the NCAA from enforcing its decision to deny him an additional year of eligibility for the 2026 season.

The case reached the courtroom after the NCAA rejected Chambliss’ original medical hardship waiver request and later denied Ole Miss’ formal appeal. With all internal avenues exhausted, the matter shifted from the NCAA’s review process to state court.
At the center of today’s hearing is whether the judge will grant a temporary injunction. If approved, that ruling would, in effect, allow Chambliss to compete in 2026 — including participating in spring practices — while the broader legal case continues to move through the judicial system.
Chambliss is represented by attorneys Tom Mars and William Liston, who contend the NCAA misapplied its own waiver standards in denying his request. They argue that the decision failed to properly account for the circumstances surrounding his 2022 season at Ferris State, where Chambliss believes he was entitled to a medical redshirt.
The NCAA is expected to defend its eligibility ruling and oppose the injunction, maintaining that its review process was properly followed.
Because the hearing is ongoing, further updates are expected as proceedings continue throughout the day. The Rebel Walk’s Parks Burcham, Luke Dunavant and Karis Chambliss are live in the courtroom, and you can catch the live stream of the proceedings on our YouTube (above), Facebook and Twitter.
