OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss football team has arrived in Glendale, Arizona prior to their Fiesta Bowl Matchup against Miami. This has not stopped Pete Golding and staff from continuing to recruit throughout the transfer portal window. The defensive recruiting from this staff has been nothing short of dominant and it continues to expand. Defensive back Gerald Lacy Jr., brother of star running back Kewan Lacy, has committed to the Rebels for the 2026 season.
Lacy Jr. is coming off one season at Trinity Valley Community College where he recorded 34 solo tackles, one interception, and two forced fumbles.
He originally attended Stephen F. Austin in 2023 before transferring to Missouri for the 2024 season. He would transfer to TVCC after not seeing the field at Missouri.
Coach Golding has put a focus on recruiting for potential. He touched on this today in his press conference earlier today.
“A lot of people recruit based on tradition. We recruit based on trajectory.“
– Coach Golding on his recruiting principle
With Kewan re-signing with Ole Miss for next season as well as Gerald committing, you may be seeing the Lacy brothers on the gridiron on different sides of the ball for the 2026 season. Lacy Jr. has untapped potential waiting to break free. If anyone can make this player a key piece to the defense, it’s Pete Golding and the defensive staff.
