OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football’s dream season has come to an end, and with that many players are facing some of the toughest decisions of their life. For some, the transfer portal looms, but for those out of eligibility the NFL Draft or retirement is the next choice.

Ole Miss linebacker Tahj Chambers has decided to officially declare for the 2026 NFL Draft.

Chambers, a redshirt senior, released a statement via his social media accounts stating:

First and foremost, I want to give all glory and thanks to God for blessing me with the opportunity to play the game I love. Without His guidance, strength, and protection, none of this would be possible. He has carried me through every high and low, and I am forever grateful for His plan and purpose in my life. “I want to thank Missouri State for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to develop into the football player and man I am today. The lessons, relationships, and experiences I gained there helped lay the foundation for where I am now, and I will always be thankful for that chapter of my journey. “I am also incredibly grateful to Ole Miss for allowing me to continue growing, learning, and competing at the highest level. The coaching, teammates, and environment pushed me to elevate my game and challenged me in ways that prepared me for what’s next. “Lastly, I want to thank my family for their unwavering love, sacrifices, and constant support throughout this journey. Through every obstacle and every victory, you have been my backbone, and I couldn’t have done this without you. “With that being said, after much prayer and consideration I am officially declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft.”

Chambers started his career with the Missouri State Bears where he spent four seasons – including a redshirt year – before transferring to Ole Miss to play out his final season.

In his one season as a Rebel, Chambers totaled 45 tackles, 27 of which were solo, as well as 3 passes defended while playing in 15 games. Chambers physicality, size and speed offers a lot of upside heading into the draft.

Chambers and more Ole Miss players will continue their pre-draft process as they all hope to begin a new chapter of football next season in the NFL.

Find out if your favorite Ole Miss players get the call as the NFL Draft begins on April 23, 2026, concluding April 25, 2026.
