SCOTTSDALE — No. 6 Ole Miss will take on No. 10 Miami Thursday evening in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl where the Rebels will look to continue their historic run and earn a spot in the College Football National Championship.

After defeating Tulane in the opening round of the playoffs, Ole Miss then went on the road to New Orleans to face Georgia where a thrilling contest ended with the Rebels advancing to the semifinals with a 39-34 victory. A potential win in Glendale Thursday would have Ole Miss competing for their first national title since 1962.

The Hurricanes enter Thursday’s showdown on a bit of an underdog run themselves. A team that snuck into the field of the playoffs in the final week of the season, Miami defeated Texas A&M, 10-3, in a defensive battle in College Station to open up the playoffs. Then, last week that same defense limited Ohio State to 14 points in the quarterfinals, setting up the game vs. the Rebels in the semis.
