OXFORD, Miss. — South Carolina transfer tight end Michael Smith committed to Ole Miss Saturday, giving the Rebels another strong option at TE.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder spent the past two seasons with the Gamecocks and will be a junior at Ole Miss. As a freshman, he totaled 106 receiving yards on 10 catches and scored one touchdown. This past season, he appeared in just two games before deciding to enter the transfer portal midway through the year.

The Savannah, Georgia, native attended Calvary Day School. During his prep career, Smith recorded 1,923 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns on 98 receptions, earning four-star status and a spot among the nation’s top 100 prospects.

After entering the portal, Smith had originally committed to Syracuse before flipping his commitment to Ole Miss on January 17. The Rebels continue to add key pieces to the tight end room, as they also recently landed Michigan transfer Brady Prieskorn. Smith will have an opportunity to make an impact within a revamped tight end corps heading into next season.
