OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss has added another piece to its defensive front, landing former Oregon EDGE defender Blake Purchase out of the transfer portal.

Purchase arrives in Oxford after spending multiple seasons with the Oregon Ducks, where he developed within one of the nation’s deepest and most talented defensive line rooms. Working behind high-profile defenders such as Teitum Tuioti and Matayo Uiagalelei, Purchase earned rotational snaps while gaining experience against top-tier competition as Oregon advanced to the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Purchase served as a consistent part of Oregon’s front-seven rotation. He finished the season with 13 tackles, two sacks, and an interception, contributing in both pass-rush situations and coverage looks. More importantly, he logged meaningful reps in high-leverage games, something Ole Miss values as it continues to reshape its defensive depth.

Physically, Purchase fits the SEC mold. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, he brings the size and length needed to hold up on the edge while still offering enough athleticism to rush the passer. Over the course of his career in Eugene, he appeared in 35 games and preserved a redshirt year, giving him both experience and developmental runway moving forward.

For Ole Miss, Purchase brings Power Four experience and a player who understands rotational roles and team defense, but who may have a larger role ahead in a new environment. With the Rebels emphasizing versatility and depth along the defensive front, Purchase gives the staff another option who can be deployed situationally while continuing to grow.

As Ole Miss reloads its defense through the transfer portal, Purchase adds a proven, battle-tested presence off the edge — one who has already been part of a playoff-caliber program and now looks to take the next step in Oxford.
