BOOM! Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy to return to Rebels in 2026

OXFORD, Miss. – Sources confirm Rebels’ running back Kewan Lacy will return to Ole Miss for his second straight season, per On3’s Pete Nakos.

This comes on the same day quarterback Trinidad Chambliss pledged to return to the program if he receives his waiver from the NCAA for the 2026 season.

Following the departures of the former Ole Miss head coach, offensive coordinator and running backs coach for LSU, reports indicated that Lacy was among the top players who would be joining them via the transfer portal. However, those sources were obviously mistaken.

Lacy, the Missouri transfer, has experienced an unbelievable fall, rushing for 1,464 yards on 295 carries, averaging 5 yards per carry.

In addition to helping Ole Miss reach its first-ever College Football Playoff semifinals, Lacy also broke Quinshon Judkins’s single-season touchdown record for Ole Miss, scoring over 20 rushing touchdowns.

Despite the rumors and his strong relationship with Kevin Smith, Lacy has ultimately decided to remain loyal to Pete Golding in hopes of putting himself in the 2026 Heisman race and fully preparing himself for the NFL draft.

There’s no question that through the potential return of Trinidad Chambliss and the confirmed return of Brycen Sanders, Will Echoles, Antonio Kite, Princewill Umanmielen, Lucas Carneiro, Oscar Bird — and Kewan Lacy — among others, the Rebels are well on their way to assembling one of the most talented rosters in school history!
