OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss has landed the top available running back in the transfer portal, securing former Michigan State talent Makhi Frazier for the 2026 season.

Frazier will enter his junior year with the Rebels after spending the past two seasons with the Spartans. The 5-foot-10, 218-pound back saw limited action during his freshman campaign but enjoyed a breakout sophomore season. He rushed for 520 yards and two touchdowns on 116 carries before an undisclosed injury sidelined him for the final three games of the year. Following the firing of Spartans’ head coach Jonathan Smith, Frazier elected to enter the transfer portal.

A native of McKinney, Texas, Frazier attended McKinney High School, where he starred as a two-way player at running back and middle linebacker. On the offensive side of the ball, he recorded 380 yards on 66 carries with four touchdowns over his final two varsity seasons. Defensively, across three varsity seasons, he tallied 69 total tackles (six for loss), 14 sacks, five pass deflections, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery. His versatility and production earned him a three-star rating coming out of high school.

Ole Miss has built an impressive running back corps under new running backs coach Frank Wilson. The Rebels have retained superstar Kewan Lacy while also adding transfer commitments from JT Lindsey (LSU) and Joshua Dye (Southern Utah). The depth and competition within the running back room should benefit Frazier’s continued development and elevate the Ole Miss offense as a whole heading into next season.
