OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss offensive staff took another step forward in rounding off their wide receiver room through the addition of Horatio Fields, the former Auburn wide receiver. It had widely been reported that Fields would join Pete Golding’s Rebels; however, it wasn’t until Saturday evening that Fields announced it via social media.

Fields is originally from Douglasville, Georgia, where he attended New Manchester High School and became their all-time leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Entering college, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound stud decided that he would take his talent to Wake Forest and compete in the ACC.

During his time in Winston-Salem, Fields developed steadily, going from a true freshman who rarely played in 2021 to leading the Demon Deacons in touchdowns in 2024. As well as scoring four touchdowns in ’24, Fields also hauled in 39 receptions for 463 yards on the season.

Following his breakout year, he decided to enter the portal and commit to Auburn. During his time as an SEC player, Horatio only appeared in four games before suffering a broken foot in late September. Despite his shortened season, Fields managed to notch 12 receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown to top it off.

It’s also worth noting that upon re-entering the transfer portal this winter, Fields originally committed to Missouri before offering his resignation and joining the Rebels.

With his recovery, Fields will automatically compete for a starting role with Ole Miss due to his size, speed, versatility, and college football experience. This is yet another fantastic addition for John David Baker and the offensive staff.
