OXFORD, Miss. — Former Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight has officially committed to Ole Miss. The former five-star recruit is a highly-touted dual-threat quarterback who announced on December 30, 2025, he would be leaving the Plains and entering the transfer portal.Â
Knight is from Lucedale, Mississippi and attended high school at George County. While there, he recorded 5,792 passing yards, 1,316 rushing yards, and 85 total touchdowns. He was the top overall recruit from Mississippi at the time, originally committing to Notre Dame before flipping to Auburn.
At Auburn
In limited action as a true freshman, the dynamic quarterback flashed serious upside, totaling 259 passing yards and two touchdowns while adding another layer with his legs. Across just two appearances, he carried the ball 13 times for 178 yards and found the end zone four more times on the ground — production that jumped off the page.
His breakout moment came in his lone start of the season, a Nov. 22 matchup against Mercer. Knight was nearly flawless through the air, completing 15 of 20 passes for 239 yards, and he was just as dangerous once the play broke down, ripping off 162 rushing yards. By the time the night ended, he had accounted for six total touchdowns and left little doubt about his playmaking ability.
The 62–17 win was fueled by explosive moments, and Knight was at the center of nearly all of them. He opened the game with a 75-yard touchdown run, added another reminder of his speed with a 51-yard score late in the first quarter, then capped the night with a 91-yard strike to wide receiver Malcolm Simmons.
Incredible potential at Ole Miss
Long before arriving on campus, Knight’s potential was already well established. He entered college as one of the most coveted prospects in the country, ranked as the No. 25 overall player and the No. 5 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class — a pedigree that now matches the flashes he’s already put on tape.
How can the dual threat star stand out at Ole Miss? Just look at this past year with starting quarterback Trinidad Chambliss at the helm of this offense, and you get the picture. Knight is ranked a top-five quarterback in the portal and has the potential to thrive in the Ole Miss offense with his versatile skill-set. Quarterbacks coach Joe Judge has an incredible track record position; he helped mold Jaxson Dart and Trinidad Chambliss into elite quarterbacks.Â
For Ole Miss, Deuce Knight represents more than just a quarterback addition — he’s an investment in the future. With elite athleticism, proven production in limited opportunities, and the confidence that comes with big moments already behind him, Knight arrives in Oxford with momentum on his side. Now in a system built to showcase dynamic quarterbacks, he’ll have the chance to grow, compete, and carve out his own chapter in Oxford.
