Steady at Center: Brycen Sanders and Ole Miss O-Line Helping Drive Rebels’ Potentially Historic Run

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football will be on the verge of history Friday night, and Rebels’ center Brycen Sanders is making the most of it.

Ole Miss (10-1, 6-1 SEC) is ranked No. 7 in the latest College Football Rankings and faces in-state rival Mississippi State this Friday in Starkville with a chance to earn the program’s first 11-1 regular season.

For Sanders, this moment has been nothing but rewarding, as the Memphis native has waited his turn at Ole Miss to show his abilities to the nation.

“This season has been a really fun year,” Sanders tells The Rebel Walk.

“As a competitor, it was not fun being on the sidelines the last two years, but waiting and working hard helped shape me into the player that I am today.”

As for Sanders and the entire offense, 2025 has been filled with success on and off the field, and the team is thriving because of it. The Rebels rank No. 3 in the nation in total offense this season with an average of 493.8 yards per game and are ranked No. 13 in the country in scoring offense with an average of 37.2 points per game.

The mindset from players and coaches has continued to be “go 1-0 every week.”

Sanders has been his own toughest critic, but he’s been working on that.  “I learned this year to give myself grace. I am very hard on myself, and when I make a mistake I usually beat myself up and it only makes me play worse,” Sanders explains.

This year has been a long time coming for the Tennessee native, who arrived in Oxford in 2023. Before this season, he saw limited action, primarily playing special teams in 2024.  This year, however, Sanders has started at center every game and the Ole Miss offensive line continues to thrive in every aspect.

“I think our O-line has been playing great this year.” Sanders said.

The improvement of the Rebels’ offense from 2024 to 2025 is evident in the team’s production. The offensive line has notched  many strong showings this season, and that comes from a strong relationship off the field as well as on.

It took us a couple games to get into a rhythm, but we’ve grown a lot throughout the season. We’re a brotherhood on and off the field and I wouldn’t want to play with another group of guys.

Sanders and the team continue to push forward on this potentially record-breaking season. The Rebels’ playoff chances could hinge on the outcome of the game vs. Mississippi State Friday.

Me and everyone on the team will work as hard as we can to keep the Golden Egg where it belongs!

In a time when the transfer portal spins nonstop, Sanders’ commitment to Ole Miss stands out for all the right reasons.

Most guys nowadays don’t sit for two years at one place and trust the process, but I knew if I put my head down and worked hard everything would work out. I’m a loyal guy, that’s how I was raised and that’s who I am. I love this city, the university, and the fans so I never wanted to leave.

Sanders and his group have thrived even though they faced some early-season changes, including one at quarterback, but Sanders say both QBs have helped him become a better player and person.

Trinidad and Austin are both incredible. They’ve helped me gain confidence in myself, and even when I make a mistake they always help me keep my head up and move on to the next play.

Ole Miss has found a great dynamic with with Chambliss and Simmons this season, as both quarterbacks have been prepared for whatever hits them.

As the Rebels head into the Egg Bowl with history within reach, Sanders and the offensive line stand as one of the quiet engines powering this season’s rise. Their growth, chemistry, and week-to-week consistency have helped shape one of the most explosive offenses in college football — and Sanders has been at the heart of it. On Friday night in Starkville, Sanders and the o-line will look to finish what they started — leading the charge toward an 11-1 season, keeping the Golden Egg in Oxford, and cementing their place in one of the greatest years in Ole Miss football history.
