Ole Miss releases Thursday availability report ahead of Saturday showdown with Gators
OXFORD, Miss. — As the Rebels prepare to host Florida in what is undeniably one of the biggest games in Ole Miss football history, the stakes could not be higher. The Rebels (9-1 overall, 5-1 in the SEC) enter the contest ranked No. 7 in the latest College Football Playoff standings. A win this weekend would get them that much closer to securing their first-ever playoff berth, with just one regular season game remaining, the Egg Bowl in Starkville.
Florida (3-6 overall, 2-4 in the SEC) enters the matchup under interim coach Billy Gonzales after letting go of an embattled Billy Napier midseason.
The Rebels are currently sitting at No. 7 in the college football playoff rankings, and any slip up could potentially knock out Lane Kiffin’s bunch. Ole Miss, however, is a 14-point favorite heading into the game, so that bodes well. But this is the Southeastern Conference and every opponent is tough, week-in and week-out.
Ole Miss released its Thursday availability report and there are a couple of changes from Wednesday’s report. First and foremost, defensive back Antonio Kite is no longer listed. He was marked as questionable Wednesday, but now should be available to play.
Linebacker Raymond Collins is still listed as out and DL Jamarious Brown remains questionable. DL Jeffery Rush has been downgraded from questionable to doubtful.
Florida, meanwhile, has ten players listed as out, two probable and one doubtful. Two of the most noticeable losses for the Gators are perhaps wide receivers Dallas Wilson (foot) and Eugene Wilson III (ankle). Wilson III was the third-best receiver on the team when he went down in the loss to Georgia and had tallied 27 catches for 239 yards and 3 TDs.
Dallas Wilson has 12 receptions for 174 yards and three touchdowns in four games played, and he also went down in the Georgia game.
