Kutas Anchors Elite Ole Miss Offense, Wins 2025 Kent Hull Trophy: ‘It’s an awesome honor and a huge blessing’
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football right guard Patrick Kutas has been awarded the 2025 Kent Hull Trophy by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and the Kent Hull Foundation. We recently had a chance to visit with Kutas about the award and his season.
The Kent Hull Trophy is presented to the top offensive lineman in the state of Mississippi each season, recognizing excellence and leadership on and off the field. Kutas is the 13th player to receive the award named after the late Kent Hull who starred for Mississippi State and the Buffalo Bills throughout his career.
“It’s an awesome honor and a huge blessing to be able to win that award. I’m glad I can represent my family and the university in that way.”

Kutas, a junior for Ole Miss, is in his first season with the Rebels, after transferring from Arkansas in the offseason. Starting all 11 games this season, Kutas has helped anchor one of the most potent offenses in the country this season. He and his o-line teammates have assisted the Rebels in setting strong numbers as Ole Miss ranks inside the top five in the nation for total offense and passing offense this season.
Kutas has also been a key ingredient in the recipe for the success of running back Kewan Lacy. The Rebels’ running back was recently named a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which is presented to the nation’s best running back.
“Kewan is a great person, and knowing you have him behind you makes you feel better about your job. His growth has been awesome. Week by week you can see him grow, and that’s due to him keeping his head down and working.”

The Kent Hull Trophy winner is selected by a panel of NFL scouts who cover colleges throughout the state of Mississippi.
“Javon Patterson let me know after our practice Tuesday, it was a cool moment,” Kutas tells The Rebel Walk. Patterson is a former Ole Miss offensive lineman and currently serves as the Director of Development for Former Student-Athlete Relations at Ole Miss.
Despite a big change from Arkansas to Ole Miss, Kutas credits his teammates for his smooth transition, which has helped translate to a very successful season for the Rebels’ offensive line.
“Everyone was great to me when I transferred in. We started off a little slow, but every game we have improved and continued to show for the work we put in every week.“

Along with teammate Diego Pounds, Kutas has earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors this season, as he’s continued to excel for offensive line coach John Garrison.
“It shows for the hard work you have put in. Coach Garrison has been great for us this season from drills in practice to little things like breaking down film or doing extra walkthroughs.”

Despite some adversity early this season, Kutas and his group have continued to excel against some of the premier programs in the country. Even with all the success this season, Kutas has continued to stay humble and not allow his focus to be dictated by outside noise.
“Personally, knowing where you come from and how much work we have put into this season, that keeps me leveled and focused on the task. We have come too far to stop now,” Kutas explained.
Kutas will be honored during the C Spire Conerly Trophy presentation on Tues., Dec. 2, at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Tickets for the event may be purchased at www.msfame.com or by calling the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame offices.
