Grateful and Growing: Ole Miss TE Caleb Odom Finds His Rhythm in Rebels’ 49-0 Win
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football dispatched The Citadel as expected on Saturday afternoon, winning 49-0 at Vaught-Hemingway. It was a game that allowed Lane Kiffin to rest some of his starters late and give other players a chance to get game time this season. One of those was tight end Caleb Odom who grabbed his first touchdown of the season.

Ole Miss Handles Business
The Rebels are looking to make the College Football Playoff this season, and a game against an FCS team won’t improve their resume. However, it could have harmed it if they did not play in top gear.
Fortunately for Ole Miss, that was not the case, as the Rebels were comfortable and in control throughout the game. Tight end Caleb Odom was asked about the performance against the Bulldogs. He revealed that the focus has been there all week, despite the level of opponent they were facing.
“I think we came out there and did what we were supposed to do,” Said Odom.
“We preached this all week in practice, making sure no matter what the level of competition, we always come out and play our game. The competition is against us every week, and I think we did a good job of executing on offense and defense, and it was a great win for sure.“

Odom had his best game since transferring from Alabama this offseason, grabbing his first touchdown of the season in the win over The Citadel. He tallied six receptions for 64 yards and was a focal point of the passing game in the victory.
Caleb Odom Grateful for Wright, Tight-End Room
Since transferring over, Odom perhaps has not seen his snap count as high as he would have anticipated. However, he has embraced his time on offense and in the tight end room. The Georgia native credits teammate Dae’Quan Wright and expressed gratitude for the privilege of learning from the talented big man, who has been a key part of the Rebels’ offense.
“It’s been a great year. I think just collectively, the tight end room, we have been piggybacking off each other, and our specialties are what we do best. Being around a guy like Dae’Quan (Wright), it’s crazy to watch the plays he makes and stuff like that. I think he’s a great mentor, and I learn something new every day, whether it’s blocking or receiver stuff, and I think it’s just a blessing. This season has been great so far.“

It’s back to SEC opposition next as Ole Miss faces Florida at the Vaught on November 15. The Gators ended their playoff dreams in 2024, and they will hope that does not happen again this time around.
