Rebels’ O-Line Chemistry Growing With Kutas Leading the Charge Into SEC Gauntlet

OXFORD, Miss. — It’s an exciting time for Ole Miss football, and with Lane Kiffin at the helm the Rebels can bring in some of the best transfers in college every season. One of those happens to be Arkansas transfer offensive lineman Patrick Kutas. The transfer was highly touted by many of the top programs, but he decided to head to Oxford.
Finding his groove in the Ole Miss trenches
An injury setback during the off-season hindered his return to game-readiness; however, he is nearly 100% and his performances on the field are showing. After the win over LSU, he revealed why we are seeing a better Kutas on the Ole Miss offensive line.
“Just finding my groove, getting comfortable again, trusting myself, and trusting the guys next to me. Knowing the game plan is going to work, and just more reps.“

The offensive guard picked up the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against LSU.

Kutas was pleased to pick up the award, but he wants more.
“It’s cool, but it’s not everything. I recognize it and then move forward. It is pretty cool, but it doesn’t really impact how I view myself or how I perceive myself as being better or worse. It’s just an accomplishment, and I got to move forward.“

Offensive line improving week by week
The first few games saw some struggles with the offensive line, which is understandable given the injuries and new players on the line. However, the Rebels are improving with each game. Kutas credits that to getting comfortable with each other.
“We have just started jelling a lot better. Our first time playing all together was against Georgia State. But it’s really been week by week; we’re getting more comfortable with each other. We’re starting to trust each other a lot more, and that’s just a natural progression that’s going to happen.“
