Ole Miss’ Kam Franklin wants to see better energy starting Monday ahead of Georgia game

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football scraped past Washington State, 24-21, Saturday, in what was a potential trap game. The Rebels stay unbeaten at 6-0, and look ahead now to this weekend’s matchup against Georgia.
Defensive end Kam Franklin offered insight into what head coach Lane Kiffin had to say about the team’s performance. He also noted the team will need to stay focused ahead of the next game.
“We came out 1-0, but there is a lot we need to work on,” Franklin said on Saturday night.
“There was a lot of lack of attention to detail. We started slowly on both sides and in all aspects of the game. We’ve got to come in Monday with a better focus and preparation.“

When asked if the energy was down in the locker room, Franklin gave an honest answer. However, he knows that it’s on the players and it’s something that needs to be addressed going forward.
“Kind of. It was the first 11:00 a.m. game. We should have been more prepared for that. That is something we need to take accountability for. It starts in the locker room, that’s it.”
The Main Thing is the Win
Franklin finished the day with a staggering stat line: six total tackles, 4 of which were solo, 1.5 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. He also recorded one pass breakup and a quarterback hurry.
Franklin believes the staff had him and the defense in the correct positions, but they failed to execute effectively for most of the game.
“I feel like Pete (Golding) and Joyner (Randall) put me in the best position to make plays collectively. I feel the lack of detail, lack of attention in all phases of the game. We did come out with the win. It was grimy, but we came out with the win.“

Next up are two big road games. First, Ole Miss will face Georgia on October 18, followed by a match against Oklahoma in Norman. Two wins would be a massive statement for Kiffin and the team.
