Ole Miss Great Jaxson Dart Earns NFL Rookie of the Month, Also Impacts Lives Off the Field

OXFORD, Miss. — The Ole Miss Rebels sent a total of 20 players from their 2024-2025 roster to the NFL this past spring, headlined by quarterback Jaxson Dart who has already shown out in the early stages of his career. This week, Dart was named the NFL’s October Offensive Rookie of the Month.

Dart took control of the G-men when head coach Brian Daboll thought it was time to turn to the first round draft pick prior to the team’s matchup with the Los Angels Chargers in week 4.

Dart instantly shined in his debut giving a much needed spark along side fellow rookie Cam Skattebo as the two quickly turned the identity of the Giants into a positive young core.

Through Dart’s first five starts, New York is 2-3; however, the young quarterback specifically has dazzled in his first taste of action.

Currently Dart has 984 passing yards, with just under a 60% completion percentage, and eight passing touchdowns, while also showing his duel threat ability totaling 195 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. This performance and spark has energized the fan base.

That being said, unfortunately for Dart and the team, they lost superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers to injury back in September as well as Skattebo in their most reason game in Philadelphia as the Giants injury riddled season continues.

Luckily, Dart still has talented teammates alongside him, including Tyrone Tracy at running back, Wan’Dale Robinson at receiver, and Theo Johnson who has become one of Dart’s favorite targets at tight end.

From here on out, Dart will do what he can with a less-than-100% roster as he continues to grow and develop in his young career.

Off The Field

While Dart is off to a strong start on the field, he is making an impact in the nearby community as well. Earlier this week Dart took time to go visit a children’s hospital to meet with young kids with severe illnesses, dressing up as Superman for his visit.

When asked about what the experience was like, Dart gave a heartfelt response.

The children’s hospital, that hits close to home with me and my family with my sister growing up. So that’s something I definitely did in college, too, and I want to continue to do that. It’s definitely special to see them and their perspective of life and them just finding joy in the little moments. And you know, I’m so down because we just lost a game while they’re able to go through some of the hardest things imaginable and put a smile on their face. It’s inspiring to be around them.”

A Look Ahead

Dart and the rest of Big Blue continue their season this Sunday as they host the San Fransisco 49ers at Metlife Stadium at Noon CT.
