Ole Miss baseball lands verbal commitment from 2027 prospect Joseph Flores Jr.

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss baseball has been working hard with their returning field players as they prepare for the upcoming season, and they have also continued to work on their future.

Mike Bianco and staff landed a verbal commitment from 2027 two-way prospect Joseph Flores Jr., a switch-hitting middle-infielder and right-handed pitcher.

Flores, out of Corona High School in Riverside, California, is listed at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds.

The junior standout sits between 87-89 on his fastball velocity with a 90 mph record throw.

While impressive for his young age, his switch hitting ability is what draws the biggest amount of attention.

Flores’ max exit velocity according to Prep Baseball Report is 98.5 and averages just over 90 mph, including a max distance of 377 feet at a showcase.

Flores now becomes the fifth player of his class to give a verbal pledge to the Rebels’ ball club, joining Quincy Pratt, Cooper Giger, Braydin Jones and Rylan Sutton.

A Look Ahead

Ole Miss will continue preparation for the upcoming season. The Rebels host Little Rock today for a scrimmage and will welcome the Tulane Green Wave on October 18, 2025.

The 2026 schedule was recently announced and Ole Miss hosts nine straight games at Swayze Field to open up the season before traveling to Houston for the Astros Foundation College Classic.

Coach Bianco will look for his team to return a regional to Oxford for the second straight year, and with the returning talent and portal accusations, the Rebels should be contenders to do so.
