Cayden Lee returns from bye refreshed and refocused ahead of Ole Miss’ matchup with Washington State

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss will return to the field this Saturday following a peaceful, yet hectic, bye weekend. While the Rebels did not play, polls around the country were shaken up due to the losses of Penn State and Texas. Earlier this week, the media spoke with Cayden Lee and, among other things, gathered the wide receiver’s opinion on watching football during the bye week.

I kind of try to take a break away from it, but you see the updates, and some big things happened this weekend.”

– Lee on watching CFB during the bye

Rather than watching the games, Lee had the opportunity to visit his home state of Georgia and spend time with his family over the weekend. When asked about the trip, Lee mentioned that one of his favorite parts about visiting home is the food.

It’s amazing to be able to spend time with my family and get some different food that’s not in Oxford. I love Oxford food, but Atlanta is a little different.

Moving back into another week of preparation, Lee informed the media that he feels rested and recovered following the bye. Up to this point in the season, the junior posted his best performance in the Rebels’ last game against LSU, where he notched his first touchdown of the year and recorded 70 yards on four catches.

Upon scoring his touchdown, Lee went viral across the Ole Miss community. During his celebration, he tapped his chest and held up his hand to the fans, acknowledging and apologizing for a fumble earlier in the second quarter.

I made a mistake earlier in the game, but you have to have short-term memory. I just wanted to let them know it was my bad, and it’s not going to happen again.

– Lee on his touchdown celebration

Looking at the week-seven matchup for Ole Miss, Lee and the Rebs will host Washington State, with road games against Georgia and Oklahoma looming around the corner. Despite the team’s success, there’s been no letdown. Lee spoke highly of his teammates’ energy and motivation during practice.

I feel like we’re really focused right now. I feel like a lot of players are playing really well… if we continue on this path, we’ll put ourselves in a really good position.

– Lee on team morale

Ole Miss vs. Washington State will kick off at 11:45 am on SEC Network. As always, be sure to stay tuned with The Rebel Walk.
