Trinidad Chambliss: ‘I’m Just the Same Guy’ After Guiding Rebels Past No. 4 LSU

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football recorded a big win over No. 4-ranked LSU on Saturday, moving the Rebels to 5-0, overall, and three conference wins. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss continues to impress the college football world as he delivered another stellar performance for Ole Miss.
Going up against an LSU defense that Lane Kiffin described as “elite,” Chambliss was excellent.

Chambliss finished 23-of-39 for 314 yards, one touchdown, and one interception (his first of the season). He also rushed 14 times for 71 yards.
Dream Come True for Trinidad Chambliss
Chambliss will get plenty of the plaudits for leading Ole Miss to the 24-19 win over LSU. It was a big game for the quarterback, who has played at the top level in Division II football, winning a national championship at Ferris State last season.
When asked after the game what the win in Oxford was like in comparison to his national title win, Chambliss did not make a comparison between the two. He said both were great, and then, in his typical humble fashion, paid respect to each member of his team.
“Leading Ferris (State) to a National Championship definitely was a big goal of mine and a great accomplishment,” said Chambliss.
“Today, beating number four LSU, one of our rivals, it’s a dream come true. A great team win. The defense played amazingly. The offensive line gave me great pockets, our receivers just made plays, and our running backs, Logan Diggs and Kewan Lacy, just ran it in. Yeah. It was a great win.“

‘Just the Same Guy’
Playing in the SEC and winning the big games changes how the media, fans, and the college football world see you. That has been the case with Chambliss, as he has thrown for over 300 yards in all three starts, two in big conference games.

But the Michigan native remains the same person despite the increase in notoriety.
“It’s changed for sure. More notoriety, with a lot more people following me on Instagram and the like. A lot more texts. I’m just the same guy who came here in May and just want to play football, have fun, and win.“

Chambliss and the team get a well-deserved week off, but if you take into account what players and coaches say about the quarterback, there is no bye week. He and the team will be focused on Washington State for the next two weeks.
