Rebel Recipes: New Orleans Cocktail Perfect for the Grove and Cheering on the Rebs vs. Tulane

OXFORD, Miss. — This week, instead of a food recipe, we have a New Orleans cocktail recipe. The Vieux CarrĂ© (pronounced VOO Cah-RAY) was invented at the Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone in 1949.
While the Sazerac is the official cocktail of New Orleans, my personal favorite may be the Vieux Carré. Go Rebels, and beat Tulane!
Ingredients:
¾ oz. rye whiskey
¾ oz. cognac
¾ oz. sweet vermouth
2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
2 dashes Angostura bitters
½ oz. Benedictine
Lemon twist
PREPARATION
Fill a rocks glass with ice. Add all the liquid ingredients, stir, and garnish with a lemon twist.
