‘One Common Goal:’ Ole Miss Receiver De’Zhaun Stribling Says Team Shares Winning Mentality

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling was one of several wide receivers added to the room this offseason via the transfer portal. With that group and including the tight ends, the Rebels have many potent ways of beating opposing defenses, and hat has been on full display in the opening four weeks of the season.

The number of bodies at pass catcher for Ole Miss means that some weeks players may not see as many touches. Stribling, however, is not at all concerned with the amount of touches nor are the rest of his teammates.
They all share one goal: to win and help the team in any way they can.
“We all have one common goal, and that’s to win and go 1-0 each week. We do what we do, whether you’re getting the ball or not; we still have a job to do out there. That’s how we all stay level-headed. As long as we are 1-0, that’s all that matters.“

The big receiver transferred in from Oklahoma State and has settled in well. He was asked how he feels thus far as an Ole Miss player.
“I feel pretty good,” said Stribling, who tallied 3 catches for 62 yards last weekend against Tulane.
“Trying to do my job to help the whole team win, help the offense produce at a high level, and overall just score a lot of points. I’ve been feeling really good about it.“

Ole Miss vs LSU
This weekend is the biggest test thus far this season for the Rebels as they face No. 4-ranked LSU at the Vaught. It will be top players against top players, and Stribling is expecting a battle against the Tigers’ secondary.
Earlier this week in his Monday press conference, head coach Lane Kiffin talked about the improvements this season in the LSU defense, specifically the secondary that Stribling will face.
“Three of the four secondary are portal guys. So they’ve done a great job with that. They’ve heavily financially invested in the portal and made that decision. That’s no secret. Coach Kelly talked about that, how much money they’ve spent. And it shows. Those are three guys that were heavily recruited and probably the three most expensive portal DBs in the market. And they got them all. So they did a great job with that. And now they’re coaching them really well. And and they’re playing great.“

Stribling knows it will be a challenge, but he’s ready for it.
“They’re a good team,” replied Stribling. They’re going to play hard and we’re going to play hard too. So, it’s going to be a good game out there.“

If Ole Miss can get the win and move to 5-0 heading into the bye week, Coach Kiffin and his team will be sitting in a good spot with plenty more tough games coming up in an SEC gauntlet.
Ole Miss and LSU kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
